Teacher | Outreach Team

Lafutima Jones found her way to Grace & Glory Yoga at the urging (truthfully, the insistence) of a close friend and mentor during a time when she needed something to remind her of her innate power. She stepped into The Leadership Studio as a scholar and enrolled in the 200 Hour Teacher Training, despite having no prior yoga experience. Though she thought about quitting nearly every day, she kept showing up—and she’s been showing up ever since. A proud woman in recovery, Lafutima lives every breath in gratitude and service. Her resilience shines in every space she touches. While raising her kids, she went back to school and became a nurse. Today, she serves as a Charge Nurse at John Brooks Recovery Center, walking beside countless individuals reclaiming their sobriety after long, hard battles with Substance Use Disorder. In 2019, Lafutima’s leadership and impact were recognized as she was featured as the yoga and meditation teacher in the peer-reviewed Stockton University study, Community Yoga and Women with Substance Use Disorder. She embodies grace, grit, and service whether she’s guiding a practice, mentoring those in recovery, or showing up head-to-toe in a perfectly styled outfit, always with sneakers that make you stop and stare.
